AFWERX Awards QuSecure Contract to Access Post-Quantum Cryptography Solution

QuSecure has announced a Small Business Innovation Research contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory’s AFWERX directorate to provide access to QuProtect, a post-quantum cryptography software-based solution.

The offering provides end-to-end protection to encrypted communications and data on cloud, edge, internet of things, network and satellite communications devices, QuSecure said.

Organizations can use QuProtect to implement PQC on a network without removing existing encryption, the company added.

Garrison Buss, QuSecure’s co-founder and chief strategy officer, said the award, which follows two similar SBIR contracts, reflects his company’s ability to enhance warfighting capabilities.

QuSecure received an SBIR Phase II contract in 2023 from the U.S. Army to deliver QuProtect, continue developing encryption capabilities and determine applications for quantum technology in tactical edge and tactical internet-of-things devices.

In 2022, the company received an SBIR Phase III contract to deploy QuProtect to support a legacy system at a location used by the Air Force, the U.S. Space Force and the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
