Air Force Materiel Command Holds Training Exercise for Acquiring AI Capabilities
The Air Force Materiel Command recently held a three-day training program on procuring and implementing artificial intelligence solutions.
Sponsored by the Pentagon’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office, the AI for Acquisition Training Program focused on collaboration capabilities, networks and policies relating to the technology, AFMC said Friday.
The U.S. Air Force unit said it crafted scenarios that allowed attendees to explore AI capabilities and learn to properly prepare data to improve performance and accuracy.
Matteo Palazzo, an Air Force employee within the KC-46 Pegasus program management office, commented that the exercise taught him how to amplify and harness data to enhance operational capabilities.
According to CDAO training facilitator Aaron Williamson, facilitating a type of exercise where personnel can discuss their work is “very progressive” on the Pentagon’s part.
The AFMC explained that the training program is part of a continuous effort to modernize mission processes. Vince Pecoraro, lead program manager at the Air Force Digital Transformation Office, stressed that AI and modernization are essential to meeting the service branch’s mission requirements.
