Air Force Materiel Command Selects Decision Lens to Improve Portfolio Management

Integrated planning software developer Decision Lens announced that it will enhance programming, budgeting and execution processes behind a $19 billion portfolio of the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command – Centralized Asset Management.

Such efforts will cover the management and sustainment of unfunded requirements within the portfolio, Decision Lens said Wednesday.

Lance DeSpain, the company’s vice president of Air Force, said AFMC CAM personnel want new capabilities to drive process improvement. Decision Lens will change the resource optimization process at most major Air Force commands to become more structured and data-driven, he added.

In a press release, the company said its selection reflects a growing trend within the Department of Defense to adopt a transformation mindset that uses similar software to modernize planning and funding.

Decision Lens joined forces with Aeyon in late 2022 to deliver tools in support of the DOD’s budgeting, requirement prioritization and program analysis.

The fiscal year 2022 defense budget established a commission to reform the DOD’s planning, programming, budgeting and execution processes.
