Army Acquires Palantir’s Maven Smart System Prototype Under $480M Deal
Palantir Technologies has secured a $480 million firm-fixed-price contract from the U.S. Army for its Maven Smart System prototype, an artificial intelligence-enabled solution capable of scanning and identifying enemy systems in any area of responsibility.
According to a press release from the Department of Defense on Wednesday, the new AI-powered solution will help filter specific data parameters and sift through large amounts of information to provide officials with near-real-time data to use in deciding whether to generate fire missions.
The Maven is expected to be integrated into the Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control warfighting construct, allowing defense officials to take advantage of the benefits offered by AI to make faster and better decisions and improve operational efficiency, DefenseScoop reported.
Palantir has been working to advance AI integration to improve mission outcomes. In April, it partnered with Oracle to integrate its Foundry workloads with the Oracle Cloud infrastructure, allowing the deployment of the Gotham AI-ready operating system and AI platform in Oracle’s distributed cloud.
It also worked with the Department of Defense Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office to secure an “awardable” status under the Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace for its AI Mission Command Capability and Predictive Maintenance offering and Precision Sustainment Suite.
