US Army Awards Lockheed Martin $219M Army Contract for Precision Missiles Production
Lockheed Martin announced that it has secured a $219 million contract for the continued production of Precision Strike Missiles under the U.S. Army’s Early Operational Capability initiative.
The contract award marks the company’s fourth production contract for the long-range surface-to-surface missile, enabling a substantial boost in production capacity to meet the escalating demand from the U.S. Army, Lockheed Martin said.
The initial batch of PrSM, delivered in December 2023 following a successful November production qualification test, marked a crucial modernization milestone, providing the Army with essential long-range precision fires capability.
Jay Price, the vice president of precision fires at Lockheed Martin, expressed pride in delivering a potent long-range deterrent capability to the Army, emphasizing Lockheed Martin’s commitment to advancing the program on an aggressive schedule.
The PrSM, capable of neutralizing targets over 400 kilometers away, offers open systems architecture design for flexibility, modularity for future expansion, and compatibility with high mobility artillery rocket and multiple launch rocket systems.
To enhance development and production, Lockheed Martin employs augmented reality, ARISE advanced modeling, data analytics, software factories and other tools to the PrSM.
