Army Posts New SBIR AI, Sensor-Focused Contracts
The U.S. Army Small Business Innovation Research Program has released information on new contracts focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced manufacturing solutions and sensors.
The “AI-Enhanced TPS Development and Sustainment” effort is one of the five contracts to be issued in June. The contract, worth up to $250,000, is envisioned to create a solution that shortens the supply chain latency of electronic component repairs.
The other contracts include one on enabling power scaling in direct-diode, high-energy lasers and another that seeks processes for domestic laminated or grade metallic armor plate production, the Army said.
The service branch has been exploring ways to take advantage of new technologies. In March, it tapped Xwing to support live operational demonstrations of autonomous airlift and logistic missions. In May, the U.S. Army collaborated with Palantir Technologies to work on the Maven Smart System prototype, fusing data from intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.
