Astronics Awarded Potential $215M Army Contract for Radio Test Equipment

Astronics announced that it has secured a U.S. Army contract valued at up to $215 million for the production of the Radio Test Set TS-4549/T.

The five-year, firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covers program management, engineering and manufacturing services aimed at enhancing the Army’s radio communication capabilities, Astronics said.

The project will start with an initial delivery order worth $15.5 million, which will involve qualification and low-rate initial production.

Astronics CEO Peter Gundermann expressed gratitude for the Army’s confidence in their capabilities. He also highlighted the company’s commitment to maintaining the optimal readiness of the service’s communication infrastructure and said the award validates Astronics’ investments in radio technology.

Gundermann added that the contract win will significantly improve the financial performance of the aerospace and defense tech provider’s test business segment.

Astronics expects the project to generate $10 million to $12 million in revenue in 2024, with $5 million to $7 million coming in the second quarter.
