Benekiva, GovCIO to Help VA Modernize VALife Program

The Department of Veterans Affairs is embarking on a project to improve the efficiency and transparency of its VALife insurance program.

On Thursday, cloud-based claims automation solutions provider Benekiva and advanced technology solutions firm GovCIO announced a strategic partnership that will modernize VALife. Under the collaboration, the two organizations will work to streamline the insurance program’s claim processes, improving the timeline for claim payouts through GovCIO’s expertise in the matter and Benekiva’s Claims Platform and Portal360 solutions, Benekiva said.

Besides VALife, the strategic partnership is also expected to benefit other VA programs, including Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance and Service-Disabled Veterans Life Insurance.

Benekiva Chief Technology Officer and co-founder Soven Shrivastav said that by working with GovCIO, the company is helping ensure veterans and their loved ones receive the benefits they deserve in a timely and efficient manner.

With the numerous payouts managed by the department, Congress has been asking the VA to turn to automation to improve its handling of claims. In July 2023, Raymond Tellez, then acting assistant deputy undersecretary for automated benefits delivery, said that plans are underway to implement automation solutions across the agency.
