Broadcom’s Public Sector Cloud Solution Earns FedRAMP Authorization

Broadcom announced that its Symantec Cloud Secure Web Gateway solution is now Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program authorized, expanding its portfolio of compliant security solutions for the U.S. public sector.

The service addresses the need for cloud-based security solutions among agencies transitioning to a security service edge architecture, Broadcom said.

According to Broadcom, Symantec Cloud SWG offers agencies a cost-effective solution to migrate their security services from on-premises data centers to the cloud without compromising security or requiring modifications to existing policies and workflows.

Symantec Cloud SWG is available through Broadcom’s broader Symantec Gov Cloud – Web Protection platform, which supports both on-premise and cloud deployments of security components. Apart from SWF, the platform includes features such as Reverse Proxy, Deep Content Inspection, Management Center, Cloud Reporting, Intelligence Service and Full-Traffic Decryption.

Frank Dickson, group vice president of security and trust at International Data Corp., highlighted the importance of FedRAMP certification in building trust with federal agencies.

Meanwhile, Rob Greer, vice president and general manager of the Enterprise Security Group at Broadcom, said the FedRAMP authorization assures agencies relying on their security solutions a secure and efficient cloud migration.
