CISA Concludes Annual Cybersecurity Competition for Federal, Miltary Personnel

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has concluded its fifth President’s Cyber Cup Challenge, aimed at identifying and cultivating promising cybersecurity talent within the federal government and military workforce, Nextgov/FCW reported.

The 2024 competition format involved three rounds of challenges that simulated real-world cybersecurity scenarios, including monitoring internet of things traffic, configuring routers with IPv6 and tackling fictional scenarios involving spaceships and automated systems.

Artificially Intelligent, a team composed of Army and Air Force service members, claimed the top prize.

Michael Harpin, CISA’s competition section chief, highlighted the President’s Cyber Cup Challenge’s role in fostering internal recognition and a conducive environment for developing cybersecurity skills.

Moreover, Harpin said that the in-person competition provides valuable networking opportunities for participants and is a critical tool for upskilling the existing government workforce to meet the ever-growing demand for cybersecurity expertise.
