CISA Touts Cyber Hygiene’s Role in Reducing Ransonware-Related Vulnerabilities

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is addressing the growing number of ransomware attacks targeting various organizations through cyber hygiene.

Through the Ransomware Vulnerability Warning Pilot, CISA aims to promote a proactive approach to cybersecurity, preventing malicious actors from accessing and deploying ransomware on networks.

CISA emphasized the critical role to be played by its Cyber Hygiene Vulnerability Scanning capability in addressing ransomware-related vulnerabilities. The solution monitors internet-connected devices, scans them for possible signs of ransomware and alerts the affected organization, CISA .gov reported.

Since rolling out the capability, it has identified over three million known vulnerabilities in more than 7,600 organizations engaged in various businesses.

The agency has been working to help organizations in both the private and public sectors improve their cyber posture. Among its initiatives in recent years is creating the High-Risk Communities webpage to act as a one-stop-shop for all kinds of organizations, offering them cybersecurity guidance and free or discounted tools to improve cybersecurity.
