CMS Awards GDIT $450M Contract to Manage, Modernize Accounting System
General Dynamics’ information technology unit announced on Thursday that it received a potential seven-year, $450 million contract to continue managing and upgrading the accounting system for all Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services programs.
The Healthcare Integrated General Ledger Accounting System improves CMS’ financial oversight and ability to maintain accurate and timely program records, GDIT said.
The system processes 4.5 million Medicare claims daily and $2 trillion in payments annually, GDIT added.
The award extends GDIT’s efforts to operate and make enhancements to the system. The company is expected to utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify potential data anomalies and host the system’s primary data processing and disaster recovery systems.
Kamal Narang, GDIT vice president and general manager for federal health, said his company’s efforts will advance CMS’ commitment to quality improvements to mission-critical systems.
In 2022, the company received a $65 million contract to deliver data integration and cloud migration support to CMS.
