DOD Discloses Plan to Recompete Advana Lifecycle IT Support Services

The Department of Defense has disclosed plans to recompete a contract covering lifecycle information technology support for the agency’s data platform.

Speaking at a Center for Strategic and International Studies event on Monday, Radha Plumb, chief digital and artificial intelligence officer at the DOD, said that the Advana platform was a “victim of its own success.” Since its launch, the data platform has seen significant growth, from originally serving only the comptroller’s office to expanding to host financial management, personnel and management data.

The General Services Administration’s Federal Systems Integration and Management Center has been supporting the data platform for the last three years. The recompete plan aligns with the Pentagon’s Open Data and Applications Government-owned Interoperable Repositories effort, Federal News Network reported.

Open DAGIR is a CDAO initiative that aims to streamline the DOD process in procuring and managing its digital infrastructure, resulting in a more modular, multivendor ecosystem that supports the department’s data systems.

The Advana big data platform is among the Defense Department components transferred under CDAO in 2022 as part of an initiative to ensure the military advantage of the United States amid growing threats.
