DOE Welcomes Three Biden Appointees, Announces Two Promotions

The Department of Energy has welcomed three executives appointed by the Biden administration to roles at the agency, in addition to announcing two promotions.

The executive shifts are expected to advance the Biden administration’s effort to combat climate change, DOE said.

Jennifer Bumgarner now serves as the principal deputy assistant secretary for the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs.

She most recently served as senior regional director for the southeast at the Energy Foundation, a nonprofit organization promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy in the power, transportation and buildings sectors.

Bumgarner was previously assistant secretary for energy at the North Carolina Department of Commerce, where she was responsible for administering $275 million in funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, DOE said.

Rose Dady is now a regional intergovernmental and external specialist for the Midwest at OCIA. She previously served as director of grants administration for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Detroit, Michigan.

Dady was also the district director for Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence in Michigan’s 14th Congressional District.

Strategy and fundraising consultant Crystal Kay Perkins has joined DOE’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs as a regional intergovernmental and external affairs specialist.

Prior to the appointment, Perkins served as the Biden campaign team’s South Central regional finance director. She has held fundraising and management roles in the federal, state and local government sectors.

Charisma Troiano, who previously served as deputy press secretary in DOE’s Office of Public Affairs, now serves as the office’s press secretary.

She previously served as director of communications for corruption litigation firm Democracy Forward.

Becca Ward was appointed to deputy assistant for Senate Affairs within DOE’s OCIA. Ward most recently served as the legislative adviser in the said office.
