FedRAMP Shares Modernization Plans
The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program has unveiled a new road map, laying down its plans to modernize the initiative.
The road map is focused on four primary goals: ensuring the program’s cybersecurity leadership, improving customer experience, developing a trusted marketplace and building smarter, technology-forward operations.
To ensure the program meets the goals, FedRAMP aims to carry out several initiatives, including defining its core security expectations, moving to digital authorization packages and adopting an agile strategy to change management, FedRAMP .gov reported.
According to the program, the initiative is expected to offer more benefits to agency partners, including security features, stabilizing the program’s review backlog and an improved understanding of its security requirements.
The government has been involved in various efforts to improve FedRAMP through the years. Congress passed a new legislation codifying the program in 2022. In 2023, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget issued a draft policy memorandum to change the program’s operations and governance.
