For Cybeats Execs, National Cyber Strategy Implementation Plan Validates Importance of SBOM
Software bill of materials management is now a priority in several market segments, Yoav Raiter, CEO of software company Cybeats Technologies, said in a recent press release. He also described SBOM as “a momentous change in software supply chain practices” and considered the White House’s issuance of a national cybersecurity strategy implementation plan – whose pillars include software bills of materials – a contributor to the growth of the market for Cybeats’ SBOM Studio, an enterprise solution intended to support the tracking and management of software components.
The NCSIP directs the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to advance the development and adoption of SBOMs, which list a given piece of software’s components, their origins and how they relate to each other.
One initiative outlined in the plan mandates that the agency collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate issues regarding SBOM implementation. CISA is also expected to form an international working group and investigate the requirements to build a globally available database for end-of-life software.
For his part, Cybeats Chief Technology Officer Dimitry Raidman said his company is participating in CISA working groups to help develop SBOM standards. According to Raidman, the issuance of the implementation plan underscores the need for software supply chain transparency, Cybeats said Friday.
