GDIT Wins $922M Contract for CENTCOM IT Infrastructure Modernization
General Dynamics Information Technology has received a $922 million contract for the modernization of the U.S. Central Command’s enterprise IT network. The contract, which the General Services Administration awarded in February, commits GDIT’s artificial intelligence/machine learning technologies to improving CENTCOM’s decision-making and to transition the command to a new cloud environment.
The task, which has a one-year base period and five option years, will also operationalize zero trust capabilities to boost the command’s cyber defenses, GDIT said Thursday.
The company added that the command’s 21-nation coverage area, spanning Northeast Africa, the Middle East and Central and South Asia, requires an advanced IT infrastructure connecting data and systems suited for highly mobile military units.
Brian Sheridan, senior vice president of GDIT’s defense division, stressed that technological innovation is key to protecting national security and promoting regional stability. GDIT looks forward to providing CENTCOM the advanced solutions for better connectivity and preparedness in its missions, he added.
The CENTCOM task follows several US military contract awards to GDIT, including a potential five-year, $383 million U.S. Navy contract for simulation and classroom training support that the company received in June 2023.
