GSA Names Lawrence Hale as Federal Secure Cloud Advisory Committee Chair

The General Services Administration has announced the appointment of Lawrence Hale, deputy assistant commissioner of the Office of Information Technology Category Management within the GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, as chair of the Federal Secure Cloud Advisory Committee.

Hale will take on the role starting Wednesday and serve as a liaison between the committee and the designated federal officer and as a spokesperson for committee work products.

The FSCAC consists of 15 public and private sector members appointed by the agency administrator to advise the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program and facilitate the coordination of agencies in adopting, using, authorizing and acquiring cloud computing products and services, the GSA said.

Other individuals who will join the committee include Kayla Underkoffler, lead security technologist of HackerOne; Carlton Harris, senior vice president of End to End Solutions; and Michael Vacirca, senior engineering manager of Google.

The committee is set to meet on May 20 to discuss their next priorities.

The FSCAC was established in February 2023 under the FedRAMP Authorization Act of 2022. According to GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan, the inaugural committee provided insights that helped agencies adopt cloud computing products and services.
