Jacobs Tapped to Support US Army West Desert Test Center

The U.S. Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command has selected Jacobs to provide mission support services for the West Desert Test Center at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.

The WDTC functions as the Army’s major range and test facility base for chemical and biological defense testing.

People working in state agencies, federal civilian organizations, the Department of Defense as well as allied nations also use the center for mission-critical CBRNE operations, tactics, techniques and procedures, Jacobs said.

Under the contract, Dallas, Texas-headquartered Jacobs will provide subject matter expertise and technical and operations support for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive defense capabilities and activities such as laboratory testing and evaluation of technology, tools and systems designed to detect weapons of mass destruction.

The company is also tasked with assessing the functionality of field-deployable detection, dissemination and decontamination systems and personal protective equipment used by warfighters.

Additionally, the mission support contract covers the execution of CBRNE incident training and live and constructive field exercises for all of the military services, civilian first-responder teams and U.S. allied foreign partners.

There is a growing recognition of the importance of the country’s ability to prepare for and tackle pervasive global threats to humanity and society, according to Jennifer Richmond, Jacobs’ critical mission solutions senior vice president of advancing national security defense.

The relevance of the CBRNE defense mission continues as potential threats evolve along with advancements in technology, Richmond said.

The company has been supporting the DPG in executing its global defense mission since 2004.

Jacobs is honored to continue its partnership with the Army and the DOD through the recent WDTC support contract, Richmond added.
