KBR Awarded $52 Million Contract to Boost Counter-Improvised Threat Efforts

The Department of Defense has awarded KBR a $52 million contract to support the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division’s Quick Reaction Capability Office in enhancing the DOD’s counter-improvised threat capabilities.

The five-year Information Analysis Center Multiple Award Contract task order entails mitigating threats through conducting research, analysis and test and evaluation, KBR said.

The contract scope encompasses a wide range of activities, including requirements analysis, test planning and execution with subsequent reporting, prototyping, data collection and analysis, along with engineering, technical and administrative assessments.

KBR will also be responsible for developing and continuously evaluating test and evaluation methodologies, while designing, developing and sustaining representative test environments.

The defense company said its efforts will enhance the effectiveness and survivability of counter-IT systems and noted that its research will focus on critical technology areas, including future wireless technology, advanced materials, integrated network systems, microelectronics and directed energy.

Byron Bright, KBR’s president of U.S. government solutions, a 4×24 member and a past Wash100 awardee, reiterated the company’s commitment to providing its counter-IT expertise and services to support the U.S. military.
