L3Harris Joins Forces With Leidos, MAG Aerospace to Support Army’s HADES Program
Defense and aerospace company L3Harris Technologies has announced that it will work with MAG Aerospace and Leidos to develop the U.S. Army’s High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System.
HADES is a Bombardier Global 6500 intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance program of record to support U.S. combatant commands and advance the Army’s long-range precision fires modernization efforts, L3Harris said Monday.
MAG Aerospace President Matt Bartlett explained that HADES enables long-range precision fires by providing deep-sensing solutions. He added that his company will provide integration, testing and operation support to the project.
Meanwhile, Tim Freeman, senior vice president and airborne solutions operations manager at Leidos, noted that his company is bringing open architecture, aircraft modification and mission integration expertise.
In September, the Army awarded Phase 2 contracts worth a combined $18 million to L3Harris and RTX to prototype sensors for HADES. The deals are part of a three-phase other transaction authority agreement with a maximum value of $49 million.
The Army aims to use HADES to track faraway unmanned vehicles and potential threats in the stratosphere.
