Lockheed Martin Secures MDA Contract for Next-Gen Missile Interceptor
Lockheed Martin announced that it has secured a contract from the Missile Defense Agency to provide a new, modern and technically advanced missile interceptor.
For the Next Generation Interceptor project, the defense contractor is providing its expertise in kill vehicle technology and decades of experience in developing strategic missile systems.
The NGI is a multiple-kill vehicle interceptor capable of protecting national security against long-range ballistic missiles launched by adversaries, Lockheed Martin said.
Sarah Hiza, the company’s vice president and general manager of strategic and missile defense, said that Lockheed is committed to delivering capable and reliable interceptors to protect U.S. national security using its years of experience and expertise.
The company has been collaborating with the MDA on various efforts. The agency recently tapped its expertise to help modernize its Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications system, updating the system with the latest capabilities to enable faster, multi-domain coordinated responses to emerging threats.
