Metrea Simulations to Provide Software for DIU’s Virtual Training Program
The Defense Innovation Unit has selected Metrea Simulations as the software provider for the Virtual Training for Air Dominance program.
MSIM will use its NOR simulation platform to deliver scalable training for the 19th Air Force and the U.S. Air Force Air Education and Training Command. NOR uses the Unreal Engine 5 3D creation tool to deliver immersive and physics-based experiences for pilots using virtual and mixed-reality simulators.
The NOR platform will be used to create T-38C flight simulators and a synthetic training environment, Metrea said.
The company uses NOR for its simulator products, namely the Air Tactics Trainer and the Joint Terminal Attack Controller Trainer. ATT is based on the F-16 block 50 fighter jet but can be modified to simulate any aircraft and various environments. JTACT integrates pilot training provided by ATT with JTAC and Forward Air Controllers.
NOR, introduced at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference 2021, works to integrate commercial game engines with military training and simulation solutions. The platform will be showcased at the Air and Space Forces Association’s Air, Space and Cyber Conference slated for Sept. 11 to 13.
