NASA Names Deputy Director of Marshall Space Flight Center

NASA has appointed Rae Ann Meyer as the new deputy director of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Starting June 2, Meyer will help lead Marshall’s nearly 7,000 employees and guide the center in developing propulsion systems, launch vehicles, space systems, engineering technologies and scientific research projects, NASA said.

Meyer took on the associate director role at Marshall in 2022, managing business operations, budget and mission support functions.

Since joining NASA in 1989, Meyer has held various leadership positions at Marshall. She was deputy manager of the Science and Technology Office, where she played a key role in planning and executing NASA’s science and technology projects and fostering partnerships with other agencies and the private sector.

She also managed the Science and Technology Partnerships and Formulation Office, served as a technical adviser for the Office of Strategy and Plans at NASA Headquarters and led Marshall’s In-Space Propulsion Technology Office.

Marshall Director Joseph Pelfrey, who has worked with Meyer on the center’s leadership team,  highlighted her commitment and intelligence, saying he is confident that the center’s future is in good hands with Meyer at the helm.
