NAVWAR-NGA Partnership Lines Up Programs to Groom Data-Driven Workforce

Naval Information Warfare Systems Command and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency have jointly created mechanisms, such as specialized training classes and courses, to foster the development of a data-driven workforce, the U.S. Navy announced. One initiative comes in NGA’s Data Science for Managers course available to select NAVWAR personnel throughout 2023, with one session held on Aug. 22 at the San Diego NAVWAR Headquarters

A Data Science Learning Program is one of NAVWAR’s contributions to the partnership, offering advanced analytics training with in-depth machine learning and artificial intelligence coverage.

The partnership helps to identify and work out training opportunities across both organizations, covering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate data science classes, the Navy said.

As part of the partnership, NGA has also started incorporating into its learning structure NAVWAR’s Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence course, which was tailored for the agency’s mission-specific personnel.

NAVWAR and NGA will explore further collaborations through their respective strategic training networks, such as the Moonshot Labs in St. Louis, NGA’s innovation hub and host to hackathon-type learning events.
