Navy Enhances Software Procurement, Cloud Adoption With AWS Marketplace Integration

The Department of the Navy has expanded its existing agreement with Amazon Web Services to include AWS Marketplace in its Enterprise Software Licensing program.

Through the modification of a previously awarded blanket purchase agreement, the Navy and Marine Corps organizations can now access commercial software and services from over 4,000 vendors, streamlining procurement and modernization, AWS said.

The initiative also supports the Navy’s cloud transformation and deployment through an expedited process of acquiring third-party licensing and services in the marketplace, according to AWS.

Navy and Marine Corps units can now use AWS Marketplace using their AWS account IDs and by following procedures outlined in the DON ESL Ordering Guide.

AWS also assured that the necessary Identity and Access Management guardrails are in place to ensure that the department’s use of the marketplace aligns with government acquisition regulations and policies.

The company also highlighted the marketplace’s key benefits, such as increased licensing flexibility, reduced procurement time and costs and improved vendor onboarding processes.
