New Argonne Facility to Boost US Research Into Quantum Information Science

Argonne National Laboratory held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Argonne Quantum Foundry research facility on Wednesday. The creation of the foundry, which is part of Argonne’s quantum information science effort, was led by Q-NEXT, one of the five National Quantum Information Science Research Centers of the Department of Energy. The foundry will make quantum materials more accessible to researchers, Argonne National Laboratory said.

Argonne Director Paul Kearns said the country will benefit from the advances in quantum information science and technology following the establishment of the QIS research facility. Q-NEXT Director David Awschalom said the Argonne facility is one of the few places in the country dedicated to creating quantum technology standardized materials and making them available to the QIS community.
