Northrop Grumman Delivers Battle Management Facility to US Army
Defense and aerospace company Northrop Grumman has announced the December 2023 shipment of an Integrated Collaborative Environment to the U.S. Army.
A component of the Integrated Battle Command System, ICE is a modular, electromagnetic interference-safe battle management shelter for air and missile defense planning and operations, Northrop said Thursday.
The company explained that it holds a low-rate initial production award to provide the Army with IBCS equipment and product engineering and logistics support.
Subsequent major end-item deliveries include engagement operation centers and integrated fire control network relays.
According to Northrop, IBCS is integral to ongoing Army air and missile defense upgrades. The command and control capability is intended to maintain overmatch while reducing risk by connecting any sensor with any shooter and facilitating fire control data across joint networks.
The IBCS received approval for full-rate production and reached initial operational capability in 2023.
Poland is using the system to underpin its WISLA medium-range air defense program.
