Northrop Grumman Tests Deep-Sensing and Targeting Capabilities During Army Exercise

Northrop Grumman fielded its deep-sensing and targeting platform during the 2023 iteration of the U.S. Army’s Experimental Demonstration Gateway Event.

The company said it integrated DSaT capabilities into a CRJ-700 plane to enable intelligence collection capabilities that reach beyond local sensors’ visual line of sight.

Northrop added that it fused multidomain data for rapid dissemination to the tactical operations center, processed commercial satellite data onboard the aircraft and met all of the experimentation criteria.

Pablo Pezzimenti, Northrop’s vice president of integrated national systems, said that DSaT could enable the Army to achieve its deep-sensing goals, allowing distant targets to be identified, tracked and neutralized with greater precision.

DSaT combines space-based geospatial imagery with air and ground-based intelligence from commercial and military satellites to meet data collection needs. The platform incorporates elements of the Tactical Intelligence Targeting Access Node pre-prototype system.

Future program phases will involve multiple intelligence platforms, Northrop said Monday.
