NRO Solicits Industry Ideas for Agile Space Launch Development

The National Reconnaissance Office has issued a broad area announcement seeking innovative proposals to advance its space launch capabilities.

The Agile Launch Innovation and Strategic Technology Advancement program is designed to enhance launch technology across multiple areas, including ground operations and on-orbit services, SpaceNews reported.

Areas of interest outlined in the BAA include in-space mobility for unconventional orbits, on-orbit logistics such as refueling and docking, and techniques to streamline space mission timelines.

Additionally, the agency is seeking advancements in artificial intelligence for ground operations and methods for precise spacecraft propellant analysis.

The NRO is pursuing the innovations to support a significant expansion of its satellite architecture over the coming decade. To achieve its goals, the agency recognizes the value of disruptive technologies and looks to collaborate with traditional and non-traditional private sector providers.
