NSF Report: China Outpacing US in AI-Related Patent Filing

A report by the National Science Foundation revealed how China is outpacing the United States in registering international artificial intelligence-related patents and releasing science and engineering publications.

The State of Science and Engineering 2024 report disclosed that the filing of AI patents reached significantly higher numbers in China over the last few years compared to U.S. records, even though the U.S. is also considered one of the biggest drivers of AI research.

A White House official assured the public on Wednesday that the government is working to secure the position of being a global leader in science and technology innovation with investments, Nextgov/FCW reported.

In October 2023, Arati Prabhakar, director of the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, disclosed that President Joe Biden designated the National Institute of Standards and Technology as a major implementer in improving the country’s leadership in AI development and deployment.

To help executives contribute to making the U.S. a global leader in AI, the Potomac Officers Club is gathering government officials and industry experts to explore the transformative power of the technology. The 5th Annual AI Summit will be held on March 21 in Falls Church, Virginia.
