OSC Extends Consolidated Pathfinder Initiative, Seeks More Commercial SSA Data

The Department of Commerce Office of Space Commerce has extended the Consolidated Pathfinder project for another month.

With the extension, OSC, through its partner NASA, has placed new orders for commercial space situational awareness data and services on the Global Data Marketplace, available to all Consolidated Pathfinder participants: COMSPOC, Kayhan Space, LeoLabs, Slingshot Aerospace and SpaceNav.

The project aims to understand how the government can test and integrate commercial SSA products into various initiatives, including the Traffic Coordination System for Space, Commerce .gov reported.

The agency will use data from the project to develop TraCSS, a cloud-based information technology system that will offer basic SSA and space traffic coordination services to both commercial and civil space operators.

OSC launched the project in January, partnering with COMSPOC to provide orbit determination services and LeoLabs and Slingshot Aerospace for SSA data and services for the low Earth orbit region.

The new round of orders for SSA data is not the first time OSC has made such a request. It placed a batch of orders in the same marketplace in February, seeking commercial SSA data from other vendors.
