OwnBackup Government Cloud Secures FedRAMP Moderate Impact Level Authorization

OwnBackup’s software-as-a-service data protection platform has achieved authorization at the moderate impact level from the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.

The OwnBackup Government Cloud solution, now listed on the FedRAMP Marketplace, is designed to manage and protect mission-critical data and metadata from Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and ServiceNow, among other SaaS environments.

The FedRAMP authorization comes as the U.S. government prioritizes digital infrastructure cybersecurity, OwnBackup said. In March, the White House released the 2023 National Cybersecurity Strategy, which includes plans for enhanced cloud security and resilience.

Government agencies have been transitioning to the cloud to improve business operations, customer experience and public services; however, moving data to a digital environment creates cyber risks. Verizon’s 2022 Data Breach Investigations Report revealed that the public sector was among the popular targets of cybercriminals because its systems hold sensitive information.

OwnBackup said its platform will help defend the cloud networks of government agencies using integrated security controls.
