Office of Naval Research Awards Pacific Defense Contract for SOSA-Based Tech Demonstration

Pacific Defense has announced that it secured a two-year, $17.4 million contract from the Office of Naval Research to demonstrate algorithms and software that can support sensor-to-edge-user capabilities.

Pacific Defense will work with Carnegie Mellon University and Perceptronics Solutions to demonstrate how edge devices built from sensor open systems architecture can enable rapid and effective hardware and software integration regularly. The contract will also support ONR’s Ubiquitous Edge distributed software architecture, which enables the creation of a secure electronic warfare software-defined radio operating environment.

The goal is to enable the delivery of multi-function effects from devices deployed at the tactical edge, Pacific Defense said.

The ONR award follows other contracts the company secured in 2023.

In December, the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory awarded Pacific Defense a 39-month, $9.4 million contract to finish work on the Moonraker system. Moonraker is a modular open system approach-based sensor designed for a cislunar space situational awareness mission.

In September, Pacific Defense secured a spot on the Air Force’s $900 million contract to support the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s multi-domain technology and systems efforts.
