Parsons Lands $185M Task to Support Space Force Situational Awareness System

Parsons has been awarded a potential $185 million task order to support the Space Force’s Integrated Solutions for Situational Awareness system.

ISSA is a government-owned software package used by the Department of Defense and federal civilian agencies. The tool is used for creating code, applications and modules in support of warfighters and analysts.

The cost-plus-fixed-fee contract will support the Space and Missile Systems Center Special Programs Directorate and its partners, Parsons said Monday.

Under the terms of the potential five-year contract, Parsons will support SMC with information technology engineering, space domain expertise, software development scientific analysis and data analytics.

SMC will also have continued access to Parsons’ past ISSA software contributions. The company said it will make targeted enhancements to the system and set the foundations for future upgrades.

Parsons added that it will provide technical and scientific capabilities like space vehicle launch characterization, command and control satellite transmission, high-accuracy orbit determination, space asset tasking, threat processing, real-time launch characterization and custody and modeling and simulation for directed energy and satellite breakup.

Such capabilities will support the ISSA project’s requirement for specialized solutions in space domain awareness, astrophysics, intelligence, data analytics and multi-domain operations, the company said.

Rich Aves, executive vice president of Parsons’ space and geospatial business unit, said the company will provide flexible solutions to ISSA to ensure that warfighters and other stakeholders are fully supported.

Parsons is a Virginia-based technology company that specializes in defense, intelligence, security and infrastructure engineering.

The company recently won a spot on the Defense Intelligence Agency’s potential $12.6 billion Solutions for IT Enterprise III contract vehicle, which covers the delivery of IT and technical support services.
