Purvis Systems to Continue as NUWC Submarine Engineering Services Provider

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport has awarded Purvis Systems a $37.3 million contract to provide a wide range of engineering services for submarine systems.

Under the new deal, the technology solutions provider will continue to be the NUWC Maritime Special Projects Office’s technical design agent, acquisition engineering agent and in-service engineering agent for special submarine augmentation systems.

Since the original contract in 2020, a wide range of support services have been provided to the NUWC unit to ensure mission success, Purvis Systems said.

Joe Drago, CEO of Purvis, said that the company’s excellent services and its workforce’s dedication are behind the NUWC’s decision to continue securing Purvis services to support mission-critical systems.

The U.S. Navy has been investing significantly in improving the nation’s maritime capabilities in recent months. In February, it partnered with the Defense Innovation Unit to award Anduril a contract to develop a large autonomous underwater vehicle prototype for use in contested environments.
