Raytheon Completes Installation of First Global ASNT System for Global Strike Command

Virginia-headquartered Raytheon Intelligence & Space announced that it has completed the installation of the first Global Aircrew Strategic Network Terminal system for the Air Force. The new terminal system was designed to upgrade existing protected communications systems by expanding existing capabilities for nuclear and non-nuclear command and control, RI&S said Monday.

In a statement, the company said that the contract is administered through the USAF Nuclear Weapons Center in support of the Air Force Global Strike Command. It was revealed that the total awarded contract value for Global ASNT is nearly $600 million.

At the moment, the company is completing the installation of three additional base terminals that will comprise the AFGSC’s initial operating capability. It was further explained that as production and fielding continue, 90 terminals, including spares and support equipment, will be produced and fielded in fixed and transportable configurations by the end of 2023.

Denis Donohue, president of communications and airspace management systems at RI&S, said that the expanded capabilities made possible by the newly-installed system will “provide the critical data needed at the tactical edge to make smart decisions in near real-time.” The effort is also expected to contribute to the realization of the Department of Defense’s Joint All Domain Command and Control vision.
