Scientific Systems Joins Forces With SAIC on SDA Command and Control Project
Scientific Systems Company Inc. announced that it is partnering with Science Applications International Corp. to build and maintain command and control solutions for the Space Development Agency’s low-Earth orbit satellite constellation.
SAIC recently secured an SDA contract to integrate the Battle Management Command, Control and Communications Application Factory and the Secure Interoperability Layer, SSCI said.
The cloud-based BMC3 Application Factory is expected to deliver software to the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture using DevSecOps methods. BMC3 software is meant to expedite time-sensitive missions by providing automated battle management through C2, mission processing and data dissemination.
SSCI said it will also deliver software engineering support to develop the SIL, a middleware layer to ensure that BMC3 software can run on hardware from different satellite providers.
Owen Brown, SSCI’s vice president of solutions development, said his company will provide key support in setting up the BMC3 Application Factory within PWSA by utilizing its experience integrating containerized software for SDA’s prototype on-orbit experimental testbed program.
