SDA Awards QinetiQ US $224M Contract for Engineering and Technical Services

The Space Development Agency has awarded QinetiQ US a five-year, $224 million contract to provide acquisition, engineering, management and technical services supporting the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, a low-Earth orbit satellite constellation meant to provide communications and missile-tracking capabilities to U.S. and allied warfighters.

According to QinetiQ US CEO Shawn Purvis, a 4×24 member and a 2023 Wash100 awardee, the contract reinforces her organization’s “long-term commitment to the space mission.”

Steve Iwicki, executive vice president of defense technologies and solutions, noted that ongoing lifecycle support activities for SDA will continue, including launch operations, QinetiQ said.

QinetiQ US is a defense and security company primarily based in Virginia and Massachusetts. It used to be known as Avantus Federal prior to a $590 million acquisition from NewSpring Holdings.

In March, Avantus Federal was one of 18 companies named by the U.S. Space Force to a potential five-year, $900 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quality contract to provide data software services supporting warfighter operations.
