Sidus Space Completes NASA ASTRA Engineering Unit-LizzieSat Integration

Space and data-as-a-service provider Sidus Space announced that it has completed the testing of the NASA Autonomous Satellite Technology for Resilient Applications engineering unit that it integrated into its LizzieSat FlatSat in its Cape Canaveral, Florida, facility.

CEO Carol Craig said that the successful integration highlights Sidus Space’s capability to deliver expert support for software and autonomous systems.

The integration will allow the U.S. space agency to conduct multiple tests to verify functionality with the ASTRA Engineering Unit  and the ability to load the flight software into the engineering unit from NASA’s Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, Sidus Space said.

Sidus Space secured the NASA ASTRA integration contract in March 2023. The contract aims to secure the capability to monitor and control daily activities between the LizzieSat platform and ASTRA payload operations.

Apart from working with the space agency, Sidus Space is also involved in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s efforts to collect and distribute satellite photographs and data for public and private sector use.
