SkyePoint Lands $52M Task to Evaluate Cyber Risks at Education Department
The Department of Education has awarded SkyePoint Decisions a cybersecurity task order worth $52 million. The task has a five-year period of performance.
SkyePoint said it will work with the Enterprise Cybersecurity Group within the department’s Office of Federal Student Aid in evaluating cybersecurity risks for enterprise information systems. FSA is responsible for awarding grants, work-study funds and loans to students.
Work items include the analysis of system security authorization independent assessments, annual control tests, execution of the Ongoing Security Authorization program, independent verification and validation, audit support and documentation, and policy support, SkyePoint said Wednesday.
The company said it was selected for the task order because of its ability to automate the FSA’s authority-to-operate and Risk Management Framework processes.
FSA issued the task order through its Cybersecurity and Privacy Support Systems contract, a blanket purchase agreement under the General Services Administration’s Highly Adaptive Cybersecurity Services contract vehicle.
Frank Sturek, president of SkyePoint, said that the task order is the largest competitive award that the company has received to date and is its first with the Department of Education.
SkyePoint will help FSA secure applications and data for the 13 million students that the office supports, Sturek added.
Headquartered in Dulles, Virginia, SkyePoint is an information technology company that offers services in cybersecurity, critical infrastructure security and software development, according to its website.
In November, SkyePoint secured a task order to support a cybersecurity effort led by U.S. Immigration and Enforcement‘s Office of the Chief Information Officer.
