Space Systems Command Extends GDIT’s Project Enigma Development Contract

General Dynamics Information Technology will continue to support the U.S. Space Force as it works on Project Enigma, a digital environment enabling the Space Systems Command to collaborate with other stakeholders in a cloud-based shared network.

The contractor recently secured an extension contract, allowing it to continue the development of the prototype digital infrastructure, adding more capabilities and stakeholders to the platform to make a resilient and secure system.

In early May, GDIT hosted around 200 government stakeholders to test the solution’s wide range of capabilities, including digital engineering tools and an information technology service management desk, DefenseScoop reported.

Travis Dawson, senior director for Project Enigma at GDIT, said that the cloud-based shared network provides a secure communication channel at multiple independent levels of security simultaneously on a single device.

GDIT started its work on Project Enigma in March 2023 after it received a $18 million other transaction authority agreement for digital infrastructure services from the Space Force.
