Space Systems Command Prioritizes Collaboration With Industry Partners to Enhance Capabilities

Lt. Gen. Philip Garrant, commander of the Space Systems Command, highlighted the importance of industry partnerships in achieving the command’s goals in a speech at an event hosted by the Los Angeles chapter of the Air & Space Forces Association.

Garrant stressed the need to combine industry expertise with a skilled workforce to deliver robust warfighting capabilities that ensure the United States’ strategic advantage in space, the U.S. Space Force said.

The commander acknowledged the ongoing changes within the SSC and emphasized the need to continuously refine the command structure, develop its workforce and establish clear program priorities.

He also committed to open communication with partners in the commercial aerospace industry, recognizing the crucial role they play in achieving SSC’s goal of becoming more resilient by 2026.

According to the Space Force, the SSC aims to support more than 150 launches in 2024 and up to 200 in 2025. Garrant credited the Space Force’s total force, comprising military, civilian and contracted personnel, for its achievements in addressing national security threats in space.

The event also honored 16 guardians for their accomplishments across various areas, including mission assurance, program management and leadership. Gen. Chance Saltzman, the Space Force’s chief of space operations, received the 2024 Schriever National Space Leadership Award.
