Spectrum AMT Supplies High-Precision Circuit Boards for NASA Psyche’s Communication System

Spectrum Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, a subsidiary of technology company Ocutrx, has supplied high-precision circuit boards for NASA’s Psyche spacecraft’s communication.

The Psyche mission, managed by Arizona State University and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, marks a significant achievement in deep space exploration as it is propelled by a solar electric propulsion system, helping it reach a Mars gravity assist in two-and-a-half years, a vital stage in its five-and-a-half-year journey to the asteroid belt, Spectrum said.

Chief Operating Officer Jeff Gilbert said the company’s involvement in the project shows its commitment to advancing space technology. He added that Spectrum’s circuit board performance during the first 100 days of the spacecraft shows the team’s expertise and the reliability of its products.

The U.S. space agency sent the Psyche spacecraft, the first mission to a metallic asteroid, to space aboard a SpaceX rocket in October 2023. It aims to better understand the origins of planet Earth and test NASA’s Deep Space Optical Communications.
