Splunk Secures FedRAMP In-Process Designation for Cloud Platform
San Francisco-headquartered software company Splunk has announced that its Splunk Cloud Platform received an in-process designation from the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
The designation is a milestone in Splunk’s efforts to achieve FedRAMP high authorization, which includes over 400 security controls and standards. It also shows that the cloud offering meets security standards for mission-critical information, artificial intelligence and national security systems, Splunk said.
The Splunk Cloud Platform provides users with a scalable, automated and integrated solution that supports IT and data and analytics needs. It uses machine learning and AI to collate data and transmit key information in real-time to detect and prevent issues.
Other data- and analytics-related functions include streaming, indexing, federated searching and communications through dashboards. The offering can be integrated with cloud-enabled offerings from multiple providers, including Amazon, Microsoft and VMware.
Splunk aims to secure FedRAMP high authorization, which would allow the company to support federal government customers’ efforts to strengthen their security measures.
FedRAMP high authorization covers sensitive federal information, and compromises at this level could cause heavy financial, intellectual property or operational risks. Meanwhile, FedRAMP moderate only covers data that is not available to the public while FedRAMP low covers data intended for public use.
Splunk is one of several entities to receive FedRAMP designations. End to End Enterprise Solutions secured a FedRAMP Authorization for its Singularity-IT platform while Finivi received a Moderate ATO from FedRAMP for its payment processing solution.
Splunk offers cloud, security and IT platforms and services to clients in the commercial and government sectors.
