State Department Awards VMD Critical Cybersecurity Contract

Virginia-headquartered VMD Corporation announced that it has been awarded a prime, five-year task under the Chief Information Officer-Solutions and Partners 3 contract to provide the Department of State’s Bureau of Information Resource Management with information technology security services. This deal represents the second prime contract received from the State Department since 2020, VMD said Friday.

In a statement, the IT and services firm said the latest win expands its cybersecurity portfolio as well as its partnership with the DOS. The deal will see VMD performing antivirus, secure video and other security support services for a division within the State Department whose mission is to create an interconnected, secure and informed department.

More specifically, the task focuses on a prioritized secure and innovative application of IT resources. It calls for the delivery of necessary and effective operational support and collaboration across the agency and its partners at home and abroad, the company added.

Deepti Malhotra, VMD’s chief executive officer, said his company’s employees possess the technical expertise, understanding of the landscape and the commitment to the mission necessary to do exceptional work for the State Department.

In July 2020, VMD bid for and won the DOS’s Website Support Services contract recompete. The five-year WSS contract involves maintaining the Office of Consular Systems and Technology’s internal and external facing informational websites and web applications, including the online locations that Americans at home and abroad turn to when they need information about their passports or visas, the company said.

Malhotra added that his company will continue to support the State Department as it “protects the information technology infrastructure that enables it to fulfill its mission.”
