Stuart Itkin Appointed VP of CMMC, FedRAMP Assurance at Coalfire Federal
Coalfire Federal, a provider of cybersecurity services for the U.S. federal government and the defense industrial base, has appointed Stuart Itkin as vice president of Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program assurance.
Itkin’s recruitment comes after Coalfire Federal received its CMMC third-party assessment organization authorization and registered practitioner organization certification from the CMMC Accreditation Body.
Itkin most recently served as VP of product management and marketing at Exostar, a joint venture formed by Boeing, Lockheed Marti, Raytheon Technologies and Rolls Royce.
During his time at Exostar, he was responsible for the supply chain compliance and risk management solutions, as well as for establishing the joint venture’s CMMC practice area, Coalfire Federal said.
Before joining Exostar, Itkin held executive-level positions at cybersecurity-focused companies such as PivotPoint Risk Analytics and ThreatTrack Security.
The Department of Defense crafted the CMMC framework to tackle the problem of theft and unauthorized access to the U.S. government’s controlled unclassified information perpetuated by foreign adversaries.
The CMMC seeks to secure CUI available to defense contractors by requiring the use of good cyber hygiene and employment of cybersecurity best practices.
In December, the Pentagon announced the first contracts incorporating the CMMC requirements. Those contracts are set to affect about 1,500 prime and subcontractors this year.
When the CMMC is fully implemented, over 300,000 companies operating within the Defense Department’s supply chain will be required to achieve CMMC certification in line with the level required for their contracts.
FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring for products and services related to cloud technologies.
