Technology Modernization Fund Appoints Larry Bafundo to Deputy Executive Director Role
Larry Bafundo has assumed the position of deputy executive director at the General Services Administration’s Technology Modernization Fund.
He concurrently serves as acting executive director, succeeding TMF Customer Experience Portfolio Director Jessie Posilkin, Federal News Network reported.
Posilkin became acting executive director to replace Raylene Yung, who exited the TMF in 2023 to join the Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations as chief of staff.
Bafundo was previously the Department of Labor’s director of information technology modernization strategy and, earlier, deputy policy director at the Office of Unemployment Insurance Modernization.
GSA Deputy Administrator Katy Kale wrote in a staff email that Bafundo led a $2 billion initiative at the department to modernize national unemployment insurance systems.
Before joining the Labor Department, he spent time in the private sector at organizations such as Ad Hoc and Code for America.
Bafundo previously served in GSA’s 18F office as a product manager, handling initiatives such as the FBI’s open crime data resource initiative.
