Terran Orbital Expands Capabilities Under NASA Rapid IV Multiaward Contract
Terran Orbital has added its Nebula and Ambassador micro space vehicle platforms to the NASA Rapid Spacecraft Acquisition IV On-Ramp III contract, which already offers the 6U Triumph and 12U Renegade cubesats to government agencies.
Marc Bell, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Terran Orbital, said that expanding the company’s role in the Rapid IV program provides government customers with an efficient solution to ensure mission success, whether it be for space vehicle delivery or national security protection.
The multiaward indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity Rapid IV contract comes with a shared potential maximum value of $6 billion. It provides federal agencies with a pool of eligible participants capable of providing any space vehicles or payload space for future missions, Terran Orbital said.
NASA collaborated with Terran Orbital on a wide range of missions. The vendor has been providing a wide range of services to the agency, including launch services and on-orbit operations management. In 2022, Terran Orbital provided the Terabyte Infrared Delivery Lasercom Optical Link signal for the space agency’s Pathfinder Technology Demonstrator 3 satellite.
