ARPA-H Introduces PARADIGM Program to Bring More Health Care Services to Rural Americans

The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health has launched a program focused on improving health outcomes for Americans living in rural communities.

The Platform Accelerating Rural Access to Distributed and Integrated Medicare Care Program aims to improve rural health by addressing issues and concerns raised by rural folks, including rising number of lung cancer case, a higher mortality rate and infant and maternal mortality.

The program will focus on five technical areas: care delivery platform integration, a decentralized approach to hospital-level care, intelligent task guidance, a medical internet of things platform and a ruggedized CT scanner, ARPA-H .gov reported.

ARPA-H is responsible for accelerating better health outcomes by supporting the development of solutions to address a wide range of health issues. For its fiscal year 2024–2026 strategic plan, the organization aims to achieve several goals, including expanding technical possibilities for the future of health.

The agency has been collaborating with various contractors to improve health care delivery across the country. In October 2023, it awarded six organizations contracts with a combined value of $50 million to develop new health data security solutions.

It has also turned to generative artificial intelligence to streamline its operations to better aid the ARPA-H mission.
